Achievement Gap Questions

1. What do you think caused the achievement gap?

I think students caused the achievement gap because they start to give up in school.

2. What can students do to close the gap?(3)

a. They can try there best in everything.
b. They shouldn't give up so fast
c. They should have a positive attitude towards school.

3. What can parents do?(3)

a. They can encourage their children to do good in school.
b. They can ask what they learned in school.
c. They will be willing to help their chicldren and have them not give up.

4. What can teachers/schools do? (3)

a. The teachers can have faith in the students.
b. The schools can have better afterschool programs.
c. Teachers can go one on one with sudents.

Guest Speaker: Tom Hayden

1. What did you think of Mr. Hayden?

I thought he was an interesting person. He's met many famous people, like Ceasar Chavez and Malcolm X.

2. Tom Hayden does not think of himself as a civil rights leader. Do you see him as one? Why or why not?

I think he's not a civil right leader, but I think he's a leader, because he was helping blacks to vote and planning sit-ins.

3. Tom Hayden feels that leaders are not as importnat as hundreds of thousands of people behind them. What does he mean by that?

I think he means, the people that are protesting are getting the word out, but the leaders, just have to say what they think about the problem, but the people can protest and get asked more questions that the leaders.

Well, today is so boring, but I'm dying my hair! YES! It's going to be a dark read! yup yup! This weekend is going to be so boring too. I might hang out with my friend but I'm not really sure. Oh, I finally got the new Wednesday 13 cd! YES! It's the bomb! The whole album is good! It sounds just like the old one, but it's so kool!!! I love it! Well only got about 2 or 3 minutes to finish this blog. But I'm going now, I'm going to finish my website! Till next time! PEACE!

Stop Hurting Yourself

The sign "Stop Hurting Yourself" means that, you shouldn't call yourself names to put you down. Or it could mean, not to do things to yourself that can hurt you, like drugs, or drinking. I think Mr.Hsu put the sign up, that way we know that we shouldn't bring ourselves down. Or do anything to harm ourselves. Well a situation of this is, when this girl/boy was taken to the hospital because of to much alcohal. It affected the persons. But this situation didn't really affect me because I didn't know this person. This is the truth. But If it was my friend, I would have been sad and worried about that person. I think it gave a shock to the others that witnessed this situation because they probalby never seen something like this happen at school.
